Connecting your Apple Mac in to resources in a Windows environment can be a daunting proposition but it's actually not that difficult.

Accessing share folder share on a Server
In FINDER, click GO on the toolbar and then CONNECT TO SERVER.

You now have a choice of either browsing the network to find your resource, or typing in the address of the resource.

Browsing...

To browse for the resource, click the BROWSE button and find the computer's name within the list of available network resources. Once you've found the server you wish to connect to, select it and then click CONNECT AS.

You'll need to use the format of DOMAIN\USERNAME in the username field. For instance, if the internal domain of the network is called YCD and the username is joebloggs, then the username should be entered as ycd\joebloggs

Once you've entered your password, you'll be able to select the volume or share name that contains the files you're looking for.

Specifying the resource details...

Alternatively, if you don't want to browse or can't find the resource, then select GO > CONNECT TO SERVER and then enter the address of the resource. It will need to look something like this: smb://YourServerName/Share
In this example, you would need to replace "YourServerName" with the name of the file server or the IP address of it. You'd replace "Share" with the name of the folder you're trying to connect to.

Again, once you've found the server you wish to connect to, select it and then click CONNECT AS.

You'll need to use the format of DOMAIN\USERNAME in the username field. For instance, if the internal domain of the network is called YCD and the username is joebloggs, then the username should be entered as ycd\joebloggs
