How To Install NOD32 Antivirus - Your Computer Department

The process is as follows:

1. Download the NOD32 installation program to somewhere convenient.
2. Uninstall the previous antivirus program and restart your PC.
3. Install the NOD32 antivirus from using the program your download in step 1.
4. Configure file exclusions (file servers only)

Step 1 - Download the relevant version of NOD32 Antivirus
Choose the appropriate download from these download links. When prompted, copy and paste the username and password provided to you when you purchased your licence.

Home Edition (Less than 5 computers covered by your licence)
32 bit operating system (if in doubt, use this one): http://download.eset.com/download/win/eav/eav_nt32_enu.msi
or
64 bit operating system: http://download.eset.com/download/win/eav/eav_nt64_enu.msi

Business Edition (more than 4 computers covered by your licence)
32 bit operating system (if in doubt, use this one): http://download.eset.com/download/win/eavbe/eavbe_nt32_enu.msi
or
64 bit operating system: http://download.eset.com/download/win/eavbe/eavbe_nt64_enu.msi

Step 2 – Uninstall the previous antivirus program

Windows XP / Windows Server 2003:
Click START > CONTROL PANEL > ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS
Select your antivirus program in the list and then click the REMOVE button.

Windows Vista / Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008:
Click the Windows button or START button > CONTROL PANEL > PROGRAMS AND FEATURES
Select your antivirus program in the list and then click the UNINSTALL/CHANGE button above the top of the list.

Restart your computer after the uninstall process has completed.

Step 3 – Install NOD32 antivirus

Run the file that you downloaded in step 1. Accept all default answers and enter the username and password for your licence when prompted. There is one prompt that doesn’t have a default answer. Select ‘Enable’ from the drop down list.

Step 4 - (Notes for system administrators of file servers only)

If installing on a file server, you should now exclude some areas of the operating system to prevent the antivirus system from having a negative impact on performance.

Copy and paste the code below into a file 'Exclusions.xml' and import it into NOD32 from the front settings page 'Import and export settings'. Care should be taken to amend the file paths if necessary. For instance, if MS Exchange is installed on a different drive letter then the paths should be amended accordingly.
